Urban Rhythm caught the House Music bug when he attended his first rave in NYC. It was a time of illegal warehouse parties where the music and the audience was completely free. He went on to create his own take on Progressive House under the moniker of Authentek with Killer Green with several releases on the FutureMusic label. During the Covid quarantine, Urban found himself creating more Ambient and Meditative music, which resulted in a full length album of Deep Groovy House.
With over 200 percussion instruments under the roof, Urban Rhythm embraces the spiritual grounding of hand drumming. He infuses organic percussion instruments in every music production from Tribal House to Drum 'n' Bass, and most recently in his Ambient music and Deep House excursions. He regularly focalizes drum circles to help connect people to their rhythmic roots for mental health.
Urban Rhythm has been a fixture of New York City's Illbient scene for several years with his driving brand of Acid-laced, Drum 'n' Bass music. By combining his African hand drumming roots with his own musical instrument inventions, Urban Rhythm has been able to break from the typical electronic music four on the floor stereotype to create truly innovative beats.
During the Covid19 pandemic, Urban hunkered down in his studio, stripping away all his gear except for analog synthesizers and drum machines. Employing an effects stack - affectionately named "The Borg" - Urban began creating Ambient, Downtempo and Deep House under the Droids On Acid moniker. You can follow his music output on TikTok.
Combining Roland TB-303 acid bass lines, acoustic percussion and Drum 'n' Bass breaks, Urban Rhythm has created an unique genre that he continues to push forward. Urban Rhythm's "Acid'n'Bass" stomper, Max A/C, was awarded First Place in the Roland Songwriting Contest several years ago.
